Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr Granitsas graduated from the University of Athens Medical School in 1979 and completed his specialty training in Trauma and Orthopedics working in leading hospitals in Greece. At the same time he completed his PhD thesis at the University of Athens.
Between 1986 and 1989, he completed further advanced training in some of the busiest hospitals in the UK working with renowned orthopedic surgeons of the time. On his return to Greece, he worked at some of the most reputable private units of Athens and led the orthopaedic department of Metropolitan Hospital in Athens for over 10 years. Since 2020, Dr Granitsas is an associate orthopaedic surgeon at Nicosia Polyclinic.
Dr Granitsas performs the full range of orthropedic surgeries. He is an expert in joint replacements, arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries. In particular, he is a pioneer in Greece and Cyprus with the MEDACTA AMIS technique, a minimally invasive procedure that has been found to be superior to other techniques in terms of rapid mobilisation of the patients. Moreover, he specialises in innovative techniques for disorders of the hand/arm and foot deformities as well as back disorders such as spinal disc herniation (lumbago).
