Dr Papakostas is an Otorhinolaryngologist, Head and Neck surgeon and specialist in facial plastic surgery and neuro-otology. He graduated from the Medical School of Patra University in 2007 with distinction. He then acquired specialist training in various teaching hospitals in Germany including the University Hospital of Berlin (Charité), Helios Hospital Berlin Buch (the biggest otorhinolaryngology clinic in Berlin) and the University hospital of Brandenburg.
During this time, he served as a clinical trainer to medical students of the University of Berlin in otorhinolaryngology both in the clinical setting as well as part of problem-based learning. He completed his specialty training in Berlin in 2014 and subsequently worked as a consultant at Helios Hospital Berlin Buch for 3 years where he subspecialised in facial plastic surgery and neuro-otology. He received board accreditation on both subspecialties from the Brandenburg Medical Council and the German Otorhinolaryngology Society (Berufsverband HNO Deutschland) respectively.
He is a PhD candidate at the University of Charité in Berlin. His PhD Thesis is on “The Quality of life in patients with acoustic neuroma in relation to their objective clinical signs”. During his last year in Germany, he worked as a Senior Consultant (“Oberarzt”) in the Otorhinolaryngology clinic of Brandenburg Medical School. He returned to Cyprus in June 2018 and commenced his clinical work as a specialist at Larnaca General Hospital. Moreover, he collaborates with the European University of Cyprus Medical School and is a tutor in Otorhinolaryngology.
Dr Papakostas has lectured in numerous international conferences presenting both his research and clinical work. He is a member of the following medical societies:
